BEVARA ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF THEIR SLATT COLLECTION
Bevara Design House produces socially responsible and sustainable collection of modern furniture with local labor and material
San Francisco, CA—Nationally recognized as an up-and-coming contributor to the eco-friendly and sustainable furniture market, Bevara Design House is proud to announce the addition of the SLATT Collection to their line. SLATT Premium is produced locally in the San Francisco Bay Area and is made from regionally harvested woods, using local labor and, by 2010, green energy. The idea behind SLATT, as well as all of Bevara’s products, is to provide modern, lasting, and affordable furniture that is simultaneously well-designed and environmentally conscious. Its clean lines broken only by surprising details or unusual angles, SLATT adds modern style and organic warmth to any room. Some standouts from the collection featured at the 2008 High Point Market, include the inviting “Idle Daybed” and playful “Climb” shelving unit.
The SLATT collection features functionality, practicality and affordability, specifically within the everyday context of homes populated by young families. To accommodate those with a tighter budget, the collection is also available in SLATT Light, which is made from plantation-grown teak and produced overseas. SLATT Light incorporates the same principles of sustainability and social responsibility as the locally produced collection, but at a lower price point.
“It has never been more important to insist on sustainable and socially responsible design,” says founder, Stacy Jorgensen, who co-founded Bevara Design House with her husband, Erik Jorgenson, in early 2008. “We believe that that the everyday family should be able to purchase efficient, brilliantly designed, eco-friendly furniture without emptying their wallets, and SLATT Light makes that possible.”
Bevara’s goal is to have sustainability dominate every step of their manufacturing and distribution process—from concept and materials to execution and retail delivery. The word “bevara” literally means “preserve” or “protect” in Swedish and speaks clearly to the company’s mission to work in harmony with the world’s resources.
